Spring Clean-up at the Clubhouse

No Rotary Club “Zoom” meetings for the next two weeks.  It’s been fun to see you on-line, but maybe we’ll meet in person again.  Spring has sprung and it’s time to meet outside.  Join Us Thursday May 13th at 5:30 at the Rotary Clubhouse for a spring clean-up evening.  Bring your rakes, shovels, clippers and other outside implements of destruction.  The Clubhouse grounds are looking winter worn.  It’s time to clean it up and visit with fellow Rotarians at the same time. No Rain Date, so it just can’t rain.

Then, on May 20, we’ll meet again at the Boothbay Railway Village lawn again. This is a lovely venue for meeting safely in these Pandemic times, especially if you are fully vaccinated.  We’ll start at 5:30 PM and enjoy the long spring evenings.  Bring your own chairs, drinks, snacks, etc.  Look forward to seeing you in person again. No rain date, so, yes, it just can’t rain.

But, every Saturday morning between 8:30-11:00 you can join us at the Big, Grey Rotary Club barn.  We’ve had a very successful early season, which is great, but we need YOU.  Come join us to empty boxes, meet our customers and visit your fellow Rotarians.  A big Thank You to all our customers new and old who are coming out to support our second year at the Rotary Barn.  But, we need more donations, especially furniture.  Call Deb at 207-380-3550 to arrange a drop off or pick up from our friendly hard working pick up teams.

The Mock Interview program will be on May 17th and 18th this year.  Boothbay Region HS students meet with a Rotarian via Zoom for interview coaching.  It’s lots of fun to meet these wonderful young members of our community.  Email Jeff Long or Irene @ ifowle50@gmail.com if you’d like to participate.

Fellow Rotarian Shawn Lewin was our speaker at last week’s meeting. He is also very active in the Community Center and shared the news that they will be reopening on June 1st after closing last March because of the Pandemic.  The Community Center was established in 2015 as a way to combat loneliness and isolation in our community.  The pandemic has worsened the problem, so many of our neighbors will be happy to meet there again.

Your Board of Directors meet tonight, May 10, at 5:30 via “Zoom”.  Email Irene at ifowle50@gmail.com  if you have a topic for discussion or would like a “Zoom” invite.

The International Committee meets tomorrow, 5/11 at 5:30.  Contact Chairperson, John Hochstein if you would like a “Zoom” invite.

Our Rotary District 7780 is holding the Annual Conference on June 4th and 5th.  This will be a virtual conference, no traveling, no sitting in a car all the way to Wells.  Save the dates, meet Rotarians from other clubs, learn new things, listen to live music, should be lots of fun.

Hope to see you Thursday at the clubhouse clean-up.  Irene
