Goblins

The goblins were out in force at last week’s Rotary Club meeting. Much more than goblins, as a matter of fact: in addition to various witches and a vampire, there was a fortune teller, yellow-gaitered fisherman, astronaut, cat, Arab sheik, Groucho Marx, Hawaiian Rotarian, cheerleaders, aging hippies, and more. A few Rotarians came in their “regular” clothing, which was really scary. Honorable Mentions go to Linda Clapp, who brought out her great-aunt’s original Votes for Women sash and accoutrement to give us a crash course in 1918 suffragette fashion, and Annette Stormont, who brought out her inner Annette Funicello as a member of the Mickey Mouse club.

Thank You Decorators

It was hard to recognize the Rotary clubhouse under the ghostly decorations and that tall thin skeleton doing his stint as greeter. Special thanks go to decorators Irene Fowle, Tory Paxson, Alice Mutch, Linda Clapp, Karen Pritchard, and Julie for the terrific work they did in making the building especially ready for the holiday.

Clubrunner App

President Jeff, dressed in his Mardi Gras finest, is certainly making himself popular with non-speaker meetings. What’s better than good fellowship and fun with a great bunch of people? Even so, Jim Herbold made the rounds during the meeting to make sure that everyone had ClubRunner on his/her phone and, more important, knew how to use it. The ClubRunner app is the easiest way to access fellow Rotarians’ phones and contact info. Need help getting it set up? Ask Jim.

People Power

Jim is also the best person to speak with to volunteer for our “People Power” positions of steward, waiter, innkeeper, greeter and 50/50, dump-runner, et cetera. And for positions at the Barn each Saturday morning. After all, it takes all of us to make the club tick! So, think of it like voting in Chicago: Sign up for People Power positions early and often.

Meet Karen Pritchard

This Thursday we will have a classification talk with Karen Pritchard. Karen is an active new member. She has helped out on pickups, at the barn on Saturday mornings, and at meetings on Thursdays. It will be great to learn more about her! Please join us in person or on Zoom.
