Sharing with Our Rotary Family

Last Thursday over thirty club members met for a strictly social evening together.  Tory was our Sergeant-at-Arms, no Trivia questions, just a chance to share personal and family stories.  It’s how we share the milestones of our lives with our Rotary Family.  We were happy to learn that corn hole champions, Bruce Harris and Chip Griffin, decided to enter into a law practice together.  If they can team up and  win at such a competitive game as corn hole that’s a good start for a law practice we guess.

Surprise!  This Thursday, September 8th, is going to be a very special, fun meeting that will make you so proud to be a member of this Rotary Club.  You don’t want to miss this one.  Neither will your friends and family members.  Please bring them too.  But, it’s a Surprise!  We’ve been working hard to bring this idea together.  Try to guess what it might be.  But, you’ll love it.  Surprise!

The Food Security Committee fresh produce deliveries to the library on Wednesday and to community members with limited access to transportation on Friday are going well.  We’re picking up fresh, beautiful produce from Twin Rivers Farm and Veggies to Table on Wednesday for the library.  Then, on Thursday we pick up again for Friday distribution around the peninsula.  Do you remember the ice cream man?  We’re like that, but we deliver beautiful, fresh lettuce, tomatoes, watermelon, swiss chard, zucchini and all the other fruits and vegetables that help make summer in Maine so delicious.  Text Judi White at 256-599-0943 to help with this great project.

Veggies to Table also donates beautiful flowers along with their produce.  It was started in Spring 2019 by Alain Olliver and Erica Berman as a non-profit, grow to donate, farm to address the lack of healthy food for community members experiencing food insecurity.  They are currently running a French Inspired sweepstakes with a grand prize of a dream vacation in Paris, France.   Go to www.veggiestotable.org to enter this contest, possibly win this dream vacation and more importantly to support the work of this grow to donate farm.

The International Committee is finalizing their Rotary Exchange with the Rotary Club in Barcelona, Spain.  They will be staying with members of the Barcelona Rotary Club who will also give them tours and highlights of this unique city.  Then, next year we’ll be hosting them.  We all look forward to hearing about their travels.

John and Sue Hochstein, Linda Clapp, Tom and Monica Churchill, Alice and Andy Mutch & Mike Thompson

So, clear your calendars for this Thursday.  You absolutely don’t want to miss this meeting.  Look forward to seeing you and your guests this Thursday at the Rotary Clubhouse.  Visiting Rotarians and community members interested in the work and fun of Rotary are always welcome at our meetings at our Clubhouse, 66 Montgomery Rd, Boothbay Harbor.  Buffet dinner starts at 6:00 pm.
