Warm Beautiful Fall

Such a beautiful stretch of weather we have just enjoyed, warm and sunny, with the trees aglow with oranges and yellow.  Hard to believe it’s November, although turning back the clocks has been a reminder of the coming change.  Lucky for us Rotary still has a lot of fun events, speakers and our Santa’s Helper Night on 12/1.  But, as always it is the friendships and laughter we share that drives the cold winter away.

This week Maine to Spain

This week our intrepid Maine to Spain travelers will share their stories and pictures from their ten days with the Rotary Clubs in Barcelona, Spain.  We’ll get to see all the wonderful places they visited and see the Rotarians who hosted them.  We are looking forward to meeting them next fall when we host them here to Boothbay Harbor.  Amy is making Paella I heard.  Whoa, brush up on your Catalan, or Spanish, and take a Spanish journey this Thursday.

Coastal Senior College

Last Thursday our speaker was John Ward from Coastal Senior College in Newcastle, Maine.  Several Rotarians have taken classes with Coastal Senior College and recommended John to be a speaker.  John is a retired teacher, still very passionate about learning and teaching.  All this was clear in his lively, fun presentation.  Coastal Senior College offers online and in person classes free of exams and grading.  Learning just for fun.  Offerings range from classes on Shakespeare, Stories of Local Mill Workers, Star Identification to guided walks in the area.  All at a very reasonable cost.  When you become a member of Coastal Senior College for the low cost of $25.00 you also have access to many of the courses offered by other Maine Senior Colleges.  The Winter Class schedule starts on January 17, 2023. For more information: coastalseniorcollege.org.

Big, Grey Barn

The Rotary Barn volunteers sure have enjoyed this warm weather since there is no heat in that Big, Grey Barn.  Looks like the normal cool weather is returning for next Saturday though.  But, we’re a hardy, maybe not super smart group and are hoping to stay open until mid-December like we have previous few years.  We won’t open if there is a snow storm, or the parking lot is too icy.  We love our loyal customers and want them, and us, to be safe.  So, hope to see you till December, just wear your warm hats, gloves and coats every Saturday between 8:30-11:00 at 66 Montgomery Rd, Boothbay Harbor  04538.

We’re still accepting donations of gently used furniture, household goods, boats, trailers, tools, well just about anything.  Just text or call Deb at 207-380-3550 for pick up or drop off arrangements.

Join Us

We meet on Thursday at 5:45 at our clubhouse at 66 Montgomery Rd, Boothbay Harbor  04538.  Community members, visiting Rotarians, family and friends interested in the fun and work of Rotary are welcome.
