Karen Pritchard Talk

Last Thursday we were treated to a classification talk by new member Karen Pritchard. In an engaging and entertaining talk, Karen told of how a misdiagnosed broken leg led to a career as a dancer. For much of this time she sailed on cruise ships entertaining guests and traveling to faraway places. She even told of dancing with Fred Astaire! Rotary members are a fascinating and varied group of people. It’s always interesting to learn more about them.

Artist Virginia Forest

Many thanks to our artist for the month Virginia Forest. Virginia is a longstanding member of BRAF, the well-respected Boothbay Region Artists Foundation. Virginia’s work is in numerous media, in particular showing her skill in watercolor and acrylic. Virginia has agreed to be the liaison from the Foundation to our club, and she will seek out other artists to display their works in our clubhouse. Her art is for sale and ranges in price from $125 to $400. Why not celebrate Virginia’s effort by purchasing one of her works for you or a friend?

New Member

At its regular monthly meeting this past Monday, the Board approved the membership of Steve Carbone. The application will now be posted for 7 days. Steve is no stranger to our club, and Rotary in general. He is a regular attendee at our meetings and at the barn. He also comes as a member of the St. Helena Rotary Club in St. Helena, California where he was President in 1989-1990.

Thursday's Meeting

This Thursday is Veterans Day! While we will not be hosting our usual dinner for local veterans given the pandemic, we will have a worthy celebration. We will enjoy a buffet of appetizers prepared by Chef Amy and the Turpentine Club will be open. Festivities begin around 5:45. We will have a Zoom link for those that wish to celebrate remotely.
