Our Treasurers' Reports

Hard to believe, but Labor Day is just around the corner.  Labor Day brings Fall; the cooler days and colorful trees all add up to the favorite time of the year for many Mainers.

At our meeting last week our treasurers, Bill Prince and Brian McGrath showed us how our club finances add up with slides, pictures and a lot of humor.  Brian reviewed our club finances.  He shared the good news that we’re covering all club expenses with the current dues amount along with weekly “Happy Dollars” and Turpentine Club donations.  The other club's good news is despite the increase in food costs our dinner cost will remain at $10.00.  Now, where else can you get such a great dinner for $10.00.  Thanks go to our Chef, Amy Ronan, for delivering such varied and delicious meals and still staying within our budget.

Bill Prince, the Foundation Giving Treasurer, then took the microphone.  He gave us highlights of the over $80,000, over four pages, of donations we dispersed locally and internationally in the 2021-2022 Fiscal Year.  We make a big impact locally and around the world, something we should be proud of.  All made possible by our sales at the Big, Gray, Rotary Barn.

It was good to see Patty Seybold at the meeting Thursday.  She shared with us the news of the passing of her husband, Thom Hagan the previous week.  Many words of support and love were shared with her during “Happy Dollars”.  We are so fortunate to have our Rotary Family to share the milestones of our lives with weekly.

This week’s meeting will be a social gathering, no speaker or program planned.  Time to catch up with one another after this busy summer season.  Irene and Jim will also help anyone set up our website, ClubRunner, on their phones.  You’ll need your phone, duh!, and any passwords that allow you to add apps on it.  (Clubrunner is an app.)  We can give you the ClubRunner app password if you don’t remember yours.  ClubRunner makes it so easy to access members phone numbers, addresses, even who the speaker will be each week.

The Boothbay V.E.T.S. project for temporary Shelter for Homeless Veterans is one of the many projects we donated to last year.  They are continuing to raise money and are currently having a Walk-A-Thon for Vets.  Go to www.https://boothbay-vets.com to sign up to support this award winning project.

Judi White and Vic Taylor need help Thursday and Friday with our latest food security project.  On Thursday we need help driving to the Twin Rivers Farm in Newcastle to pick up farm fresh produce.  Then, on Friday distributing the produce to sites around the Boothbay Region.  Text Judy if you can help.

Even though fall is right around the corner The Big Gray Rotary Barn is still open every Saturday between 8:30 and 11:00.  Come join us, it is a lot of fun.  We always need help moving furniture, negotiating sales or just making our customers feel welcome.

Bob Pike's Birthday Party

Bob Pike‘s 90th birthday party was held on Saturday at the Rotary clubhouse. Around 40 people came bearing delectable finger foods.

Bob was surprised and thrilled! The cake said, “90th! The OLDEST MAN ON EARTH.” Several people made comments about Bob, we sang HAPPY BIRTHDAY 3 times.

Lots of applause and cheers.  A great time was had by all!
