Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens

Gretchen Ostherr, President & CEO of Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens addressed us last Thursday. Gretchen discussed the successful summer the Gardens has been having, with visitation more than double the summer of 2019, pre COVID. People are drawn to the relaxing outdoor environment of the Gardens and also to see the amazing trolls put in place this year by Danish artist Thomas Danbo. She also shared some thoughts around future developments as the Gardens continues to grow.

Safe Passage Leaders

This Thursday we will welcome Trae Holland, Executive Director, and Anna Marie Klein Christie, Director of International Development, of Safe Passage. Safe Passage provides education, health services, and other much needed support to families who live in extreme poverty around the Guatemala City dump. The average family of 6 living there subsist on $4 per day (less than $1 a day per person) and have very limited training and opportunities. It is an organization Rotary has long supported.

This Weeks Meeting

The rain should spare us this week so we plan to have social time on the clubhouse deck. Our program will begin as usual at 6:30 inside with everyone except the speakers masked. Please plan to join us!
