Oktoberfest

The Rotary Clubhouse was transformed last Thursday night into a real German Oktoberfest celebration thanks to the creativity of the “Fun Committee”  (a sub-committee of the Program Committee).  Phew!   Thank you Karen, Laurie, Nicole, Nancy, Irene and others.  It sure was a fun night complete with games like “Splat the Rat”, beer tasting (thanks to Doug Roberts) and a wonderful German dinner complete with a huge German Chocolate cake made by Chef Amy’s husband. We work hard together, making a real impact on our local and international community, but this was an opportunity to just have fun together and we did.  There were prizes for best costume,  highest points in the games, lowest points in the games, no points in the games.  Even a prize for someone who hadn’t received a prize yet.You get the idea.  But, as usual the biggest prize was the opportunity to just have fun together and we sure did.

District Governor, Claudia Frost

This week we welcome our District Governor, Claudia Frost.  Claudia will share some of the International Rotary Foundation news, along with news from our local District 7780 Celebration on Friday November 4th in Portland.  Claudia is an engaging speaker who brings passion for and knowledge of the big scope of the Rotary Foundation.

People Power

Don’t forget to sign up for a position on People Power.  The meetings need your engagement to run smoothly each week.  Every meeting we need three waiters, an Innkeeper, a Sergeant-At-Arms, a scribe, a greeter, a 50/50 director and a trash hauler.

Railway Village Spooktacular

Volunteers are also needed for the Rotary Club table at the Railway Village Halloween Spooktacular on Saturday October 29th between 10:00 - 4:00.  We’ll provide the decorations and candy.  We just need a few members to greet the kids and dole out the candy.  Many local organizations are joining in to help make Hallloween memorable for our young folks.  Sign up sheets will be going round this week or email Irene at ifowle50@gmail.com.

Community Lunch

The ever popular Community Lunches are resuming every Monday.  Brady’s restaurant is hosting this event with the support of local service groups and churches.  Our first opportunity is Monday October 31 (Halloween).  We’ll need several members to provide soup, desert or bread  for this event and several more to help with set-up before and clean up after.  We’ll send around sign-up sheets, but email Irene at ifowle50@gmail.com if you can participate.

Enjoy this beautiful, but cool, fall weather.  See you Thursday.
