Lifetime Service Award
In March of 1958, a Boothbay Harbor Rotarian proposed that our club honor a local senior citizen in connection with Patriot’s Day. Almost every year since, the Boothbay Harbor Rotary Club has honored a local senior citizen who has lived Rotary’s ideals and given the community a lifetime of superlative service. Our beloved Boothbay Region is filled with marvelous, giving people, and it’s hard to choose, but one of the most favorite things we do is select just one of our neighbors to toast and roast each year.
Here, previous Lifetime Service recipients gather for the 2010 induction ceremony. Back row, from left, Estelle Appel, 2009 honoree; Joan Rittall, widow of 2005 honoree Chetley Rittall, and Laura Honey, 2010 honoree. Seated in front, at left, is Dr. John Andrews, who received the award in 1995, and Ken Honey, Laura's husband who was also honored that night for his 49 years of perfect attendance!
